8th Annual Oklahoma Grazing Conference

More Information Coming Soon

August 13-14th, 2009

The Oklahoma Grazing Lands Conservation Association will host its annual “Grazing Lands Dollar$ and Sense” conference Aug. 13 and 14 at the Clarion Conference Center in Oklahoma City.  This year’s conference will focus on getting the most out of your pastures.

Returning for a third time at the annual conference will be Jim Gerrish, of American Grazinglands Services LLC.  Jim’s experience includes over 20 years of beef-forage systems research and outreach while on the faculty of the University of Missouri, as well as 20 years of commercial cattle and sheep production on his family farm in northern Missouri. The University of Missouri Forage Systems Research Center rose to national prominence as a result of his research leadership. His research encompassed many aspects of plant-soil-animal interactions and provided foundation for many of the basic principles of Management-intensive Grazing.

Joining Jim each day as well as being our special Thursday evening speaker will be Jerry Brunetti.  Jerry is the managing director of Agri-Dynamics, a 25 year old firm that specializes in the formulation and production of products for farm livestock and pets.  An animal science major at North Carolina State University, he also owned a cow-calf operation in West Virginia and was a milk marketing manager for the NFO.  He consults on wide-ranging topics and contends there are curiously similar dynamics at work throughout nature and across breeds.  He works with such materials as seaweeds, herbs, enzymes, probiotics, vitamins, chelated minerals, "rare-earth" minerals and more.  As word spread of his curing himself of cancer through nutritional and alternative methods, so has his speaking schedule.  He now lectures around the world.  He is a frequent contributor to Acres, U. S. A.

The conference this year will provide enough of the basics to bring newcomers up to speed as well as enough information to help veteran graziers.  Topics will include soil health, building a better solar panel, harvesting more of what you are already growing, balancing rest and use, grazing everyday you can, managing cow costs and forage quality.

Those interested in attending the conference should click here for a registration form and need to register no later than August 3rd, 2009. The registration is $150 per person and includes attendance to all sessions, lunches and breaks both days, and a CD with proceedings.
