Field Tools for Measuring Forage Production at the Farm / Ranch Level

Measuring forage production is an essential part of a grazing management plan.  An accurate measurement of forage production can be used to calculate stocking rate, which will in turn influence economic performance of the grazing operation.  A stocking rate below carrying capacity is unrealized income.  Stocking rates above carrying capacity hurt the land, limit ability to survive climatic extremes and increases the cost of production.
